Editorial Council

The people who set the rules.

The Editorial Council reviews methodology, sets recognition criteria, and oversees AI-assisted patient content under California SB 1120 human-in-the-loop requirements.

Chair

NL

Dr. Nick Levi, DDS

Editorial Council Chair · 30 years of San Francisco practice

Dr. Levi has practiced dentistry in San Francisco for three decades. He chairs the Editorial Council that defines TheDentist.ai's recognition methodology, reviews AI-assisted patient information for accuracy and tone, and signs off on every material change to the Verified Performance Score.

Clinical practice is San Francisco only. Online information products are available globally.

What the Council does

1
Defines and versions the methodology. The recognition criteria, the six axes, and the VPS formula. All changes are public and announced 30 days in advance.
2
Reviews AI-assisted patient content. Under SB 1120, AI output that reaches a patient passes Editorial Council review against tone, accuracy, and the "information, not diagnosis" framing rule.
3
Adjudicates tier disputes. Practitioners can appeal a tier assignment by requesting the audit trail. The Council reviews disputes and either confirms, adjusts, or removes the tier.
4
Holds the line on independence. No paid placement, no advertising-as-quality-signal, no punishment tiers. Recognition is positive-only.

How to reach the Council

Practitioners with audit-trail requests or tier appeals: council@thedentist.ai.

Patients with concerns about AI-assisted content accuracy: same address. The Council reviews and publishes corrections within 14 days.
